My first book is live! It is a young adult futuristic adventure set 100 years in the future in a vibrant future with spectacular locations and technology,
Animalis is a sweeping romantic adventure that takes readers on a ride
from the edge of space to the heart of the frozen planes of Russia. John
Peter Jones' first novel is an imaginative and hopeful vision of the
future, saturated with deep moral questions that will leave you thinking
for years to come.
It has taken just over 11 months since I wrote the first draft of the book to get it published. And MAN I have learned a lot. Here is a preview of a post I want to make in the next few days about what I have learned so far:
1. Editing is supposed to take time.
There is a good reason it is recommended to put your story away for at least a month before you start editing it. I foolishly thought, "I don't have a month to wait to get started with the edits..." But I was wrong. I should have waited. Getting a fresh look at your book, especially after reading several other books by other authors, will open your eyes to your flaws.
You can see the book here.
If you happen to pick up a copy, I'd love to hear any comments you have. Please email me at jpeter.anim@gmail.com any time!
